Biography

Nanu Iyer says his goal is to incorporate service engagement opportunities into every class he teaches. Iyer, a clinical associate professor and director of integrated communication at Washington State University in Vancouver, has taught at the Vancouver campus since August 2015. He earned a doctorate in mass communications from Indiana University and was an assistant professor at Southern Illinois University until he joined the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication faculty. At Vancouver, he teaches courses in strategic communication, including Advertising Principles, Quantitative Research Methods, Account Planning, and Stereotypes in Communication. In each of these courses, Iyer said, he wants his students to apply the concepts they learn in class to real-world issues. In addition to teaching, he conducts research on health communication and public opinion of civic issues on social media. Iyer enjoys spending his free time with his wife, two daughters, two dogs, and two cats.
