“It has been a mission of mine to improve my written communication skills during this program.”

An ambitious student finds ISC program to be “the perfect opportunity to gain a quality education”

Wanting to better his writing, a former Bellevue College student sought out WSU’s ISC program.

Jonathan Keyes yearned for an institution that was respectable and able to accommodate his needs. Jonathan says, “it has been a mission of mine to improve my written communication skills during this program”. He also mentioned that he wanted to be able to apply the skills he learns to his everyday life.

He gained inspiration through learning the stories of Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, who both had started from a humble beginning that blossomed into prosperous careers. Jonathan explains how he has had to overcome adversity when he was a freshman at Seattle Pacific University, where his financial aid fell through. In order to stay in school, Jonathan worked in three different organizations. Which ended up paying off and getting him through to attain his Associates Degree that he says, “greatly motivated me to apply to WSU and earn my BA.”

“I’ve really stuck with the mindset of ‘everything happens for a reason.’ There have been situations in life where I lose an opportunity, yet another one appears right after. It all just motivates me more to work even harder to achieve my goals.”

Not only does the BA ISC give people an opportunity to grow and learn but it also teaches people to attain a respectable work ethic and positive attitude toward what life throws at you.
