Balancing a career while pursuing a master’s degree isn’t easy, but that challenge didn’t stop Sinais Alvarado.
Sinais recently received her master’s degree in Strategic Communication in the Murrow College’s 100% online MA program while also working a full-time job. After graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration & Marketing, Sinais went on to work in media buying and selling.
Now, she’s at an associating management company called Executive Director, INC (EDI). At EDI, Sinais works with the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) as the Education Manager, where she’s in charge of reviewing abstracts to participate in conferences along with reviewing award and scholarship applications submitted for the society.
Although she has her bachelor’s degree and a full-time job, Sinais knew she needed a master’s degree to grow in her career. She was interested in the communications field and wanted to enhance her knowledge about it, and Murrow College’s 100% online master’s program in Strategic Communication seemed to be the perfect option.
When she’s not in class, Sinais enjoys reading, watching movies (especially the Lion King), playing with her dog, and spending time with her husband and family. She also enjoys traveling all over the world to various conferences for her job.
Sinais has utilized plenty of skills learned in her Strategic Communication courses, including creating an online portfolio throughout her studies at Murrow College to showcase her work. Sinais hopes to advance at her current employer by working towards a promotion and continuing to learn and implement what she’s learned both personally and professionally. She credits Murrow College and the online MA program for helping her feel confident in achieving this goal.
“This program has really helped me grow and learn more about communications,” Sinais said. “It has been a pleasure to be a student at WSU and I would definitely recommend it to others looking to further their education.”
