Cheri (Cherilyn) Brennan (’72 BA Communication) founded Alliance Communications, a marketing/public relations consulting firm in Bellevue, in 1990.

Upon graduation from WSU, she joined an advertising agency in San Francisco and subsequently worked at Williams-Sonoma. A native of Kirkland, Cheri returned to the Seattle area in the mid-70s.  Her experience includes PR/marketing positions with various organizations, including the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, a community newspaper, a multi-office real estate brokerage, and the Washington State Bar Association. While working full-time, she attended Seattle University’s Albers School of Business, earning her MBA.

Cheri is an accredited member (APR) of the Public Relations Society of America and a past president of its Puget Sound Chapter. She is a past president of the American Marketing Association/Puget Sound and Marketing Communications Executives International/Seattle.  In connection with work in the golf industry, she is active as a member or volunteer with several industry groups including EWGA (formerly known as Executive Women’s Golf Association), The First Tee of Greater Seattle, Northwest Ladies Golf Association, and the International Network of Golf.  She also serves on her homeowner association board.

Cheri is the grateful recipient of several awards, including the 2012 Jay Rockey Lifetime Achievement Award from Puget Sound PRSA. In 2004 she received its Hugh Smith Community Service Award. She also proudly displays a WSU Foundation Outstanding Service Award and the Canon Businesswoman of the Year Award for the Pacific Northwest Section of EWGA.

A proud (and some say, loud) Coug, she is a longtime football season ticket holder and volunteer on WSU’s “Celebrate Washington Wine” auction committee (now part of the Auction of Washington Wines).  To the surprise of many avid Cougs, she married a third-generation Husky. So far, the marriage has spanned 30+ Apple Cups!
