Art Eckman joined Kennesaw State Athletics after more than four decades in broadcasting. Most recognized for being the voice of ESPN’s coverage of Supercross and Motocross, he established himself as one of the most versatile broadcasters in the business covering more than 20 different sports.

After beginning his career as a sports anchor and sports director in Portland, his career flourished as a play-by-play announcer, color analyst, studio host, and reporter. Twice the National Sportswriters/Sportscasters Association recognized him with Sportscaster of the Year honors. In 2010 he was inducted into the Portland Interscholastic League Sports Hall of Fame.

Art EckmanA fixture at the national level during a 20-year career at ESPN, he became a local household name during thirteen years as sports director at Atlanta’s WXIA-TV. The National Association of Television Sportscasters awarded him their Diamond trophy.

Along the way, Eckman has been a part of several national sports organizations including the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco Giants, Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Dream, Houston Rockets (and San Diego) and the Oakland Stompers.

While at KRON-TV in San Francisco he was a member of an Emmy award winning news team and was honored with a Kennedy Foundation National Award.
