Jonathan Martin is the Investigations editor of The Seattle Times, after having served as a reporter, editorial writer and founding editor of the paper’s Project Homeless team. He has won numerous regional and national awards, including two Casey Medals for coverage of human services and SPJ’s Sigma Delta Chi for coverage of marijuana legalization. He was part of a team that won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news coverage of a mass shooting of police officers, and a book he co-wrote with Ken Armstrong about that event, The Other Side of Mercy, won the Investigative Reporters and Editor’s Tom Renner award. He was a Knight-Wallace fellow at the University of Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Washington.
