Advertising Club at WSU functions as a small scale advertising agency seeking real businesses and school departments as clients. Our club also makes bi-annual trips to major advertising cities to visit boutique and well known large-scale ad agencies. Real Clients, real experience, real portfolio pieces. We have created a place to start networking now, with fellow Communications students, and serious ad professionals. Our purpose is to provide our peers with hands-on experience that they would not get inside the classroom preparing them for what lies beyond a degree in communications.
Fall 2020 Plan
The club will host engaging and interactive meetings online where members can still meet peers, connect with guest speakers, work on projects and much more! While continuing what the club has done in the past, we will also be creating a space to ask questions, and connect with the Murrow community while being virtual.

The Association for Women in Communications is a professional organization that since 1909 has championed the advancement of women across all communication disciplines. It recognizes excellence, promotes leadership and positions members at the forefront of the evolving communications era. The WSU chapter helps prepare women for various communication fields by fostering networking opportunities through job shadows and guest speakers. It also emphasizes community service, they have participated in such programs as the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The WSU/AWC chapter has been recognized nationally 25 times for excellence, including Outstanding Chapter, Outstanding Fundraiser, and Outstanding Recruitment. Read more about past awards.

Cable 8 Productions, WSU’s award-winning student-run television station, gives students the opportunity to apply their skills to create, produce, direct, and air their own original programs. Students gain extensive hands-on experience in television production, operations, sales, promotion, and management. Students working on Cable 8 programs will use a wide variety of field and studio equipment. Whether you want to produce a documentary, direct a music video, or just want to be part of our awesome sales department, Cable 8 is always on the lookout for energetic, dedicated, and creative people! No experience is necessary, and all majors are welcome.

The mission of The Daily Evergreen is to inform its readers on all things related to Pullman and WSU. Along with that, the Evergreen strives to amplify student voices and shine a light on things that are unnoticed at times. The Evergreen houses students who are passionate in their craft whether it would be in a written or visual format.
Fall 2020 Plan
The Daily Evergreen will continue operating in the fall. It will only publish once a week, but it will continue producing stories online on a daily basis. Murrow students can get involved with the Evergreen by applying through Handshake or the Evergreen website.

KUGR is an on-campus radio station which will launch its new hybrid format in fall 2011. The station will play a mix of top 40 (contemporary hits), charted alternative and charted triple A during automated hours. Students have the opportunity to host a two-hour weekly radio show from political talk to sports and everything in between. Some shows have become popular because of the interesting musical personality of their playlists. KUGR also carries selected Cougar sports such as basketball and baseball, which students can call live.

We are a student organization that aims to involve past, current, and future Murrow Cougs in the Murrow College through various recruitment and retention events. We are for students, by students.
Fall 2020 Plan
We are planning to maintain our level of engagement with students using a virtual format. Current students can join the ambassadors at Murrow Minutes and hang out and ask questions every week. We will also be producing Murrow Minutes Goes Virtual episodes to answer the most asked questions.
We are an interview-based club meaning to be an ambassador you must be interviewed and accepted. New ambassador interviews happen in the spring. If a student is interested in becoming an ambassador, we encourage them to attend Murrow Minutes and any other ambassador events.

The National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) is an integrated marketing communications plan for a national company. Washington State University students will compete with students from 148 colleges/universities nationwide. The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication team is selected based on a competitive application.

The Online News Association is composed largely of digital journalists. Founded in 1999, ONA’s membership includes news writers, producers, designers, editors, photographers, technologists and others who produce news for the Internet or other digital delivery systems, as well as academic members and others interested in the development of online journalism.

Members of the Washington State University PRSSA-Bateman team gain valuable skills and build lasting bonds through creative collaboration and dedicated teamwork. Each team consists of 4-5 students from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, who are selected through a competitive application process. Team members are required to enroll in and complete two 1-credit courses, one in the Fall semester and the second in the Spring semester.
Team members will meet every week during the designated class period for at least one hour. During the implementation phase of the campaign, from February through March, students should expect to spend 8-10 hours a week on the competition. Students are also required to join PRSSA for the year they participate in the competition.
The final deliverable is a campaign summary report, which is an excellent portfolio piece. Three finalists are selected by a panel of industry experts and members of the PRSA national organization. The first place team receives $3,500 and a trophy; second place receives $2,500 and a plaque, and third place receives $1,500 and a plaque. All teams are recognized at the PRSSA National Conference. The 2015-16 WSU PRSSA-Bateman Team was awarded Honorable Mention in the national competition.

The goal of the WSU Chapter of SPJ is to provide opportunities for students to participate in online broadcast and print journalism-related activities on and off campus, develop relevant skills, network with professional journalists, and get internships and jobs. Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry; works to inspire and educate the next generation of journalists, and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press.
The national organization has a membership of 10,000 journalists across the country.

To promote and create theatre at WSU. Everything STAGE does is student run from writing, directing, and acting. We also have our Nuthouse Improv Comedy troupe.
Fall 2020 Plan
Our meetings will be over Zoom. Each meeting will talk about STAGE events and different theatre related things. These activities will include workshops regarding writing and acting, as well as various theatre discussion. We will be doing a reading of our fall production, Murder On West Moon Street.
