Geoff comes to NWPB with a long career in broadcast and digital journalism as well as stints in academia.

He was part of the original staff that started CNN and has created two start-up local television news departments in San Diego, CA and Charlotte, NC.

Along with his professional experience, Geoff has done adjunct teaching at several colleges across the country and was a full-time professor of journalism at Hofstra University. Most recently, he served as a Professional in Residence in the journalism department at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he helped students create the department’s first-ever live TV newscasts.

One of his most unusual jobs was serving as a consultant at KTSF, an independently owned TV station serving the San Francisco Bay’s Chinese community with newscasts in Mandarin and Cantonese.

Geoff is involved in the mobile journalism movement and is an administrator for an international mobile journalism Facebook group with more than 7,000 members. The movement is dedicated to producing high-quality journalism with low-cost smartphone hardware and software, making the production of news content more accessible and allowing non-profit and startup news organizations to produce content.
