The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication

Journalism & Media Production  


The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication offers several internship opportunities in the Journalism & Media Production sequence, including opportunities in both Broadcasting/Media Production and Journalism.

PREREQUISITES AND APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants need to be certified communication majors with at least a 2.7 GPA in communication. Other course specifications are listed as follows:

BROADCASTING/MEDIA PRODUCTION EMPHASIS

  • COMJOUR (BDCST) 495 is designed for students who wish to intern at a radio or television station. Most students do internships at the conclusion of their junior year or during their senior year. Students must do the internship during the semester that they are registered for in order to receive COMJOUR (BDCST) 495 credit.
  • Students must complete the following:
    • COMJOUR (JOUR 305) 333
    • COMJOUR (BDCST) 350
    • COMJOUR (BDCST) BDCST 355 or COMJOUR (JOUR) 425

JOURNALISM EMPHASIS

  • COMJOUR (JOUR) 495 is designed for students who wish to intern as a reporter, designer, editor, or photographer at a newspaper. Most students do internships at the conclusion of their junior year or during their senior year. Students must do the internship during the semester that they are registered to receive COMJOUR (JOUR) 495 credit.
  • Students must complete the following:

    • COMJOUR (BDCST) 350
    • COMJOUR (BDCST) BDCST 355 or COMJOUR (JOUR) 425
