Criteria

One or more scholarships will be awarded to students whose major study is in the field of journalism. Eligible recipients must have class standing as a junior or senior or post-graduate student. No recipient shall receive more than two years assistance under this scholarship fund. Awards should be of sufficient amount to be of real and significant benefit to the recipient or recipients, and not divided so that it amounts to merely a token benefit or grant.

History

This endowment was established by a bequest from Etta Losee Reilly in honor of her husband, W. Newland Reilly. Mrs. Reilly received her Bachelor of Arts in home economics in 1916 from Washington State College. She taught home economics in Wilbur and Olympia, Washington, and then in Alaska prior to her marriage to W. Newland Reilly in 1921. Mrs. Reilly was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
