Criteria

Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time women students in communications who, like Diane Ballasiotes, demonstrate outstanding promise as a communications professional and strong personal commitment toward community involvement.

History

This fund was established by family and friends in memory of Diane Ballasiotes, a 1982 Washington State University graduate in communications. Diane was an active student leader at WSU in the communications program, her sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma, and in the Orchesis dance troupe. She went on to serve several Seattle-based public relations firms, the Seattle SuperSonics, Bob Walsh Associates, and Herring Newman Advertising. The promise of her career and involvement in the Seattle community was cut short by her tragic death in 1988.
