Criteria: The Murrow College’s outstanding undergraduate student would be selected to receive this distinguished award. It is the donor’s intention that this award would be the standard by which all other underclass students would aspire. The award is granted to fuel the award recipients preparation for the professional work environment in pursuit of their career aspirations.

History: The Murrow College’s legacy of ethics and innovations has been exemplified through visionaries of the college. One such visionary was Robert A. Mott, the second chairman of the Department of Communication from 1966 to 1968. He was a caring mentor and a catalytic leader. The WSU radio and television states were his laboratory. There, and in the classroom, he educated and trained his students in communication skills. The fund is named in honor of Robert A. Mott.
