A 1984 Murrow graduate, Rick is a life-long advertising, media and marketing professional. Immediately following Murrow, he spent a decade at San Francisco’s Hal Riney & Partners assigned to GM’s Saturn Division, The Perrier Group and the Stroh Brewery. At the dawn of the internet in 1994, Rick joined Wired Magazine as the first sales director for Wired’s online companion, HotWired. He is widely regarded as one of the first executives in the world to sell web advertising and helped establish the Web as a legitimate and mainstream advertising medium. After Wired, Rick worked for several digital publishers and ad-tech companies including IGN Entertainment, Monster Worldwide, Quantcast and podcast creator and media invention company, WaitWhat.

Rick has served on Murrow’s Professional Advisory Board since 2012 and, as a board member, established the Murrow Mentor program that same year. Since inception, Murrow Mentors have supported more than 200 Murrow Juniors and Seniors as they’ve navigated the transition from college to professional employment.
