Uses and Purposes:
This fund is established by Paul and Mary March Leach to honor Lillian March Ritter, who worked for the Bellingham Herald from 1934-36 and went on to receive a degree in English and journalism from Washington State College in 1941. She married William Ritter, a 1941 graduate in veterinary medicine and set up a veterinary practice in Centralia, Washington. They had three children, Susan, James and Thomas. Lillian devoted her life to her family and community and passed away in 1977. This Fund shall be used to award scholarships to outstanding students in journalism and the Murrow College at Washington State University.
