Meet Kylie.

Once a Coug, always a Coug. This is a common mindset of Washington State University alumni, especially for student Kylie Lambert. She chose the Murrow College at WSU for both her undergraduate and graduate studies and couldn’t be happier with her choice.

Kylie graduated from the Murrow College in 2013 with her Bachelor’s degree in Communication. She wanted to continue seeking out new learning opportunities as she believes “you are never too old to learn.” Kylie was passionate about the ever-evolving advertising industry, digital trends, and growing relationships with clients, and Murrow College’s 100% online master’s program in Strategic Communication aligned perfectly with her interests.

“Advertising has fascinated me ever since I was a little kid. From high-profile billboards to magazine advertisements, I was always curious to learn more about the who, what, where, and why,” Kylie said. “It’s no surprise that I found my groove at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, not once but twice!”

Kylie possessed a solid foundation in strategic communication already, but she knew a master’s would help expand her knowledge, skills, and experience. Working full-time presented a challenge, but the ability to complete the program entirely online and her determination to succeed made it feasible to receive her graduate degree.

Now, Kylie works as an Account Strategy Manager at Vision Media, a Seattle-based advertising agency, where she works with brands like the University of Idaho, Supercuts, Clean Energy, and the Spokane Shock. She enjoys the strategy behind putting together comprehensive media campaigns to help clients exceed their goals, and she better understands the challenges of working with limited budget, time, and resources.

Her drive and tenacity also translates outside of the classroom. Kylie accomplished a major life-long goal of visiting 30 countries by the time she turned 30 years old. Her last travel adventure was to Thailand, where she spent quality time with elephants at a sanctuary. When she’s not planning her next global adventure, Kylie “roots for the Cougs, tests new recipes in the kitchen, and watches anything true crime related.”

When it comes to advice for future graduate students, Kylie recommends taking mental health breaks and looking after yourself.

“Reenergizing can help your focus and get those creative juices flowing. Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
