“If it had not been for Sara Stout showing me the Murrow world and all it’s opportunities, I may not have chosen this university. She showed me what I could be at this school.” –Katie Merrick

“I am incredibly grateful for Murrow College and the opportunities they have provided me.” -Hannah Schneider

Meet Katie Merrick & Hannah Schneider:
Katie Merrick and Hannah Schneider are both pursuing degrees in Strategic Communication. Katie is a Senior majoring in advertising, and Hannah is a Junior majoring in public relations.

Finding Murrow:
Hannah was a born and raised a Coug! After graduating with her Associates of Arts degree from Centralia College she found Murrow College. She loves meeting new people and making connections, so a career in the communication industry felt like a natural path. With her older brother living next door, Pullman has become a second home to her. The opportunities available to students in the Murrow College is one of the things Hannah loves most about Murrow. She feels that the faculty genuinely care about her successes and her career aspirations.

Katie is a third-generation Coug. WSU was always a school she was aware of and her brother started at WSU two years before she did. She went to games with her dad and her brother and saw the environment. She had applied to UW, but chose WSU before she even heard back.
Katie came down to WSU to visit and met Sara Stout. She was the reason Katie chose Murrow. Sara took Katie around the buildings and introduced her to current students.

Clubs and Activities:
Katie is very involved with WSU Association for Women in Communication (AWC) as the current President. She is also part of NSAC and is the College of Education Marketing and Communications Coordinator.

Hannah is also involved with AWC as the current Financial Director and is excited to continue her involvement in the club.

Both Hannah and Katie are interns for Murrow College. They are working hard to prepare for the 44th Murrow Symposium and other events happening through the college.

Career Aspirations:
Hannah and Katie are both not sure of what their futures hold. However, Katie thinks her greatest goal is to be happy in her career, wherever she works.

Hannah is very excited and thankful that she has the support of Murrow College behind her as she continues to figure out her future plans.
