Criteria
One or more scholarships will be awarded to:
- Support scholarships for high achieving students with a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher in Comm classes who have a burning desire to enter the communication industry as a vocation.
- Preference will be given to students in their junior year who have been involved in extracurricular (campus) activities since entering WSU.
- Preference will also be given to a student who is majoring in The Edward R. Murrow School of Communication (any specific sequences) and have enrolled in the School of Communication.
- The Edward R. Murrow School of Communication will select top student applicants and share information about those students with the donors for her review.
History
Joyce Szymanski is a past president and member of the advisory board of The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. She was the recipient of a scholarship herself while in college and understands the impact scholarship funding offers.
