The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University announces the promotion of two current staff members.
Stacey J.T. Hust will serve as the new Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and College Operations and Sara Stout will become the new Assistant Dean of Student Services.
Hust most recently served as Chair of the Department of Strategic Communication. In her new role, Hust will be primarily responsible for faculty orientation, development and retention. She will also foster a climate of academic excellence and collaboration while addressing the needs of faculty with regard to development and instructional support. In addition, she will work with the marketing department in a strategic role.
“Dr. Hust has been an advocate and mentor for Murrow College faculty for a number of years now,” said Bruce Pinkleton, Dean of the Murrow College. “She played a pivotal role in our emergence as a college and has matured into an outstanding scholar during her time at WSU. Her promotion to Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs is a natural fit, and faculty were enthusiastic in their support of this decision.”
Stout previously served as the Director of Student Services, overseeing the daily programming and advising of the Murrow College undergraduate program. As the new Assistant Dean of Student Services, Stout will promote student development and academic success by facilitating the development and implementation of programs, policies and services that support the Murrow College students and mission.
“Murrow College has an exceptional student services team, and Sara’s vision for student services has been outstanding,” Pinkleton said. “We’ve grown our student services work in a number of key areas, and students benefit from these changes on a daily basis. I couldn’t be more proud of our student-services work, and I credit Sara with developing and leading this effort. Her promotion to Assistant Dean is a recognition of the success of her team and the benefits it brings to Murrow College and its students.”
