Biography

Gabriella Bedoyan, as a child of an immigrant, felt a natural connection and interest in understanding communication in other cultures. As a result, she pursued a career studying the intercultural and global aspects of the field.

In 2002, she graduated from of the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. Bedoyan then did her post-graduate work in cross-cultural communication and international relations at the University of Newcastle in Northern England.

In 2005, Bedoyan began her teaching career at Bellevue Community College and came to teach at Washington State University in 2013. In the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, she teaches Grammar and Editing for Communication, Media and Society, Public Speaking in the Digital Age, and Communication in Global Contexts. In addition, Bedoyan teaches Intercultural Communication, Intercultural Communication and Globalization, and Youth and the Media.

Since returning to teach at the same college she is a graduate of, Bedoyan said she feels at home being a part of the Murrow faculty and working with some of the same professors who taught her over 15 years ago.

“It is a trippy, out-of-body experience to be teaching in Todd 116 after taking classes there myself,” she said.
